Coco Looks To Be The One And Only Controller For Your iOS Device

The guy’s at Milk Shake Labs have a big task ahead of them and so far it looks like they have all the gear they need to tackle it. Controllers for iOS are nothing new though we haven’t actually scene many of them made available on the market plenty have come across KickStarter and even been displayed at CES. Coco gives you everything you could need or want in a tactile iPhone controller. The physical buttons are their a nice smooth case for the phone to set in powered by your headphone jack and access to your audio port is still made available to you so you can use your headset. The Coco can even hook up to your iPad or if you have an Apple TV you can play it on the big screen using your iPhone as a second screen similar to that of a Wii U controller. It looks like a great project but the live or die of it is that of all the others, getting game developers to make the games compatible with the controller. A handful of titles have done that so far (see link http://cococontroller.com/games/ ) one notable game being Air Mail, if more quality games become compatible like that then Coco has a chance. You can get in on the action as an early backer and grab your controller for just $35 now on their KickStarter here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/games/the-coco-controller?ref=live

Ouya The Android Based Gaming Console Raises Over $2 Million On Kickstarter In One Day

Ouya game console raises $2 million on Kickstarter, doesn't know what to do with it

Yesterday the Ouya launched on Kickstarter a $99 Android based console system. It already had a good start by being half way to their funding goal at lunch time. The console is pretty simple with a gorgeous design rocking 8GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, A Tegra 3 proccesor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and utilizing a wireless controller that a lot of thought and care has been put into. It was pretty obvious this would be one gamers and geeks would love to back but this morning we found out they really love it as Ouya has now raised over 2 million dollars in one day! What can you play on it, well that’s where the guys want your help hit the link to go over to their Kickstarter page and you can do their survey putting in the top five games you want, Ouya is going to be open sourced so essentially every game developer from the indie guys to Rockstar have their chance to make a game for it. Could Ouya be the next big thing in console gaming, it’s possible especially if the guys take into consideration the PS Vista theory. Play it on the console and then play it on the go, with the box being Android based and the game developers already doing gaming apps it could be a seamless integration.

Tabu iPad Sleeve Keeps Your iPad and Accessories At Hand

Tablet sleeves abound in today’s market but one of the biggest design flaws many of them have is solid protection and separate pockets for accessories. Tabu looks to change that. One of the first things you’ll notice about this sleeve is the lack of a zipper at the top, instead several strong magnets are used to seal your iPad inside and lessen the risk of a zipper scratch. Inside the iPad is protected by the same memory foam used by NASA and the polyurethane on the outside is even water resistant. The two pouches make it easy to throw in all the iPad accessories you need like your Square card reader or charging cable and have room for extras. All in all the simple design is easy and affordable, you can get one by backing the Tabu team for just $20.

have fun with the unique memory foam texture

Moboto Is The Perfect iPhone Companion

Part of me really wanted to hated but the fact is Moboto is just to awesome. Take a designer toy and most are pretty cool, mash it up with an iPhone dock and pair those together with some well crafted apps and you get Moboto. It gives your iPhone a personality but serves a purpose and function at the same time. Special apps may appear as just an eyeball but can tell you the time or battery life of your device. The plant now growing on your screen can alert as to what the weather outside is and do it with a smile, literally. I have held off on getting a dock for my iPhone but the creativity and ingeniousness of the Moboto makes me think I ought to get one. An early-bird pledge of $35 secures you a Moboto of choice from either male or female.

A Modular iPhone Case For Every Situation

I haven’t reviewed many cases other than posting updates on the Otterboxes, their a tried and true product I go with what works. However the guys at Aeris have an intriguing new case the rail+ with an ingenious form factor. The rail+ like it’s predecessor the rail lend to the design and shape of the iPhone not taking anything away from its looks. The rail+ has that and basically becomes the M-16 of iPhone cases. You get your basic aesthetically pleasing rail case + a visor guard that shields both the front and back of the phone when you need it, a kick stand for at the desk along with a mount for your bike and the guys even tease an external battery piece. All these easily slide on and connect via the rail system making your phone ready for pretty much any situation. You can head over to Kickstarter now and pledge your $26 to be first inline for a rail+.

Pebble E-Paper Watch Gets Bluetooth 4.0

One of the most asked about features other than waterproofing for the Pebble has been the desire for Bluetooth 4.0 low energy. Now that the guys have reached over $9 million in funding they said this feature would be added. The main goal their stating isn’t for the energy consumption but the “eventual support of wireless sensors like heart-rate and cadence (for cycling).” Though this will be a feature not initially enabled on the watch but come later on by way of a free update.

To be honest iPhone docks are about a dime a dozen now and its rare to see something that really catches your attention with them. After the Elevation Dock another Kickstarter project I didn’t think I’d be really writing or featuring anymore but the LIL KIKR has changed that. It’s a pretty simple design with basic form and smooth clean lines, similar to that of other docks for the iPhone. However designer Mike Kemery has put in attention to detail by boring out sound amplifiers in the stands tube both amplifying music coming out of the iPhone and your voice to the microphone when used as a speakerphone. Not to mention he has made two docks at the same price level one for the iPhone “purist” who likes to go case-less and another for those who use protection. Form meets function here and $50 gets you the stand of your choice in either silver, black or red and a power cable. Mike’s project will also be this weeks featured project hit the link to check out his design.

Ultima Smartphone Carmount Can Hold 20 Pounds

I’ve tried several car mounts as I’ve mentioned before and they all have had the same fail point, the suction cup. However it looks like designer Nik Conomos might have overcome that. The mount is gorgeous theirs no denying that but practicality is the key with a car mount. Can it hold the phone at the right angle, how much play is in the tilt feature (if it has that) and can it handle the bumps of the road. Well in Nik’s latest video he tries to illustrate that by strapping 10kg of weight to the mount, roughly 22 pounds. Nik could have a winner here and I hope he does because I could use a good car mount for my iPhone.

Pebble E-Paper Watch Gets Waterproofed.
Due to hitting their $1 Million dollar milestone the guys were going to make the Pebble waterproof but they had already hit $3 Million before they could announce it! They’re not yet sure of what type of waterproofing it’ll have but they said, “all Pebble watches will be waterproof enough to swim with”, they’re not going to be dive watches but you won’t have to hide your watch in a rainstorm either. Due to the overwhelming amount of desire for these in the tech world I am keeping the Pebble up as the weekly feature for now. You can still pre-order yours and help the funding over at KickStarter.
